Hi!

Teaching is my passion! I am so excited to start another school year at Metropolitan Jr. Academy. I can’t wait to get to know you and your family throughout the school year, but I thought you might like to know a little about me. I am looking forward to a year full of adventure and learning fun!
I graduated from Southern Adventist University in Tennessee in May 2014. After graduating, I accepted God's call to teach at MJA and I have been here ever since. I am thrilled to be able to teach at MJA and I feel that this is a special Jesus school and a wonderful place to be. I was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Michigan for this wonderful opportunity to work at MJA. I was specifically interested in working for the Michigan Conference because they subsidies higher education. This caught my attention to move to Michigan as I was deciding where to begin my teaching career. I am currently working at Madonna University on my Masters Degree to become a Reading Specialist. In the future, I would like to open my own tutoring business and be able to help students struggling specifically in reading. Above all, I realize the enormous responsibility that I have in shaping young minds for the future. My main goal is to instill positive values in my students and help them to believe in themselves. I want them to believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I am recently married. My husband David and I live in a small apartment in Plymouth. David is a home health nurse, also currently working on his masters to become a nurse practitioner. In our spare time, we like to travel, swim, go hiking, and camping. We have several trips planned this year to go back home to Massachusetts and Texas. This past summer we traveled to Yellow Stone National Park in Montana, and the UP here in Michigan. We had a blast! In July, we celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary. We have no family here in Michigan; however, we are involved with different church activities and our church family is like our family away from home. I am looking forward to working with you this year! |
